In a first step toward validating methods used to measure tinnitus pitch, a pitch rating method was used to establish whether these methods could measure the pitch of acoustic sounds. Results indicated good correspondence between the pitch of pure tones, but not for the pitch of complex tones. As a result, caution should be used when using this method to measure the pitch of tinnitus.
