How to Apply

M.A.-SLP and Au.D. applicants are required to complete the following CSDCAS sections to be considered for our program:

  • Submission of official transcripts.
  • CSDCAS Verified Academic history.
  • Three Evaluations (Letters of Recommendation)
    • The Admissions Committee prefers that all three required letter writers be able to comment on your intellectual and academic potential for your chosen graduate program.  This includes individuals who are in academic or clinical roles (e.g., clinical or academic/research faculty); it may also include clinical professionals who have had the opportunity to observe your knowledge, abilities, strategies, or habits that suggest success at the graduate level.
  • Personal Essay uploaded in Supporting Information section.

Ph.D. applicants must submit the following to IU's application portal (IU CAS): 

  • Official transcripts for all previously attended colleges and universities.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation from individuals familiar with your ability to do scholarly work. 
  • 300-500 word Statement of Purpose.
  • The Ph.D. application cycle for Fall 2025 will begin on August 23rd 2024.

Admission guidelines

Each program has different admission guidelines, and you should look at each specific program to get more information.  In general, however, the following guidelines apply: 

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree.
  • Recommended grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Application deadlines

The university deadline for admission to the Fall semester is December 1 for international students and January 1 for U.S. citizens. Only under special circumstances will we consider applications for the Spring and Summer semesters. To be considered for financial support, all of your application materials must be received by January 1.
