You may be able to enrich your undergraduate academic experience by assisting with a class as an undergraduate teaching assistant (UTA). The UTA program in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) invites SLHS majors who have a junior or senior class standing, and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, to apply to the program in the spring semester.
Qualified UTAs earn credit while gaining professional experience during their junior or senior years. UTAs work directly with professors to support the department’s teaching mission. Assisting peers and modeling successful academic practices offers many rewards. UTAs develop communication and leadership skills and insight into how people learn. They also gain a deeper appreciation of the subject matter and develop a working relationship with a faculty mentor.
