Undergraduate students in SLHS are eligible to apply for a few awards and research grants. The list of awards that accept self-nominations is provided below. Students are encouraged to apply to the awards for which they meet the criteria. All undergraduate students must submit a general application through the IU Scholarships system and a FAFSA once a year to be eligible for faculty nominated and selected awards. Some awards also require their own application.

SLHS Undergraduate Awards
The following awards require students to submit a general application, as described above. Some of the awards also require a separate opportunity-specific application to the IU Scholarships system. - Martie and Bob Crist Scholarship
Eligibility: Juniors and seniors who are majoring in SLHS and demonstrate a record of academic excellence.
Requirements: This award requires a general application.
Application Deadline: Fall semester
- Norvelle Scholarship
Eligibility: Juniors and seniors who are majoring in SLHS and demonstrate excellence in the discipline. Examples of excellence might be community involvement, contributions to clinic or research, academic achievement, or leadership, all with an emphasis on speech, language and hearing sciences.
Requirements: This award requires a general application and a separate opportunity-specific application.
Application Deadline: Fall semester
- Student Assistance Fund in SLHS
Eligibility: Sophomores or Juniors who are majoring in SLHS and seeking financial support for scholarly or educational expenses. Eligible expenses may include, but are not limited to, conference attendance, program-related travel or equipment expenses, purchasing textbooks, technology expenses, and other such needs.
Requirements: This award requires a general application and a separate opportunity-specific application.

- Undergraduate Research Grants
Eligibility: Undergraduate students who are working on research projects with SLHS faculty. These small grants support students who need financial assistance to complete those projects.

SLHS Graduating Student Awards
The following award is given each year to eligible students based on their research accomplishments. The award is selected by the SLHS faculty and students receive this honor during our commencement activities.
The Watson Research Award - This award goes to graduating senior(s) with the best senior honors poster.
