The Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences also offers a number of awards to recognize graduate student achievements in clinic and research. These awards are selected by the SLHS faculty, and nominations and votes are requested in early spring.
The William H. Earles Award - This award is given to 2 MA students and 1 AuD student who have demonstrated they are disciplined, hard working members of the community with great potential.
The Nicholas Hipskind Outstanding AuD Achievement Award - This award goes to one AuD student who has a strong work ethic and is committed to helping those with hearing loss.
The Psi Iota Xi/ISHA Outstanding Student Clinician Award - One MA and one AuD student receives this award for outstanding performance in the clinic.
The Dorothy Saltzman Outstanding Preschool Clinician Award - This award is given to an MA student who has shown dedication and aptitude in their preschool placement.
The Outstanding ASL GA Award - This award goes to an MA or AuD student who demonstrated strong performance as a graduate assistant within the American Sign Language program.
The Bob and Martie Crist Award - This award goes to the graduating seniors with the highest GPA.
The Watson Research Award - This award goes a graduating senior with the best senior honors poster.
The Judith Gierut Outstanding PhD Research Award - This award goes to a PhD student with the best first- or second- year project.
