Amplification and Healthy Aging (AHA!) Lab

In the AHA! Lab, we believe that healthy aging is healthy hearing. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has timely access to high-quality, supportive, and user-friendly hearing care—so that all people can hear and be heard in every conversation, relationship, and stage of life.

Our research is clinically driven and highly applied, drawing on expertise in clinical audiology, gerontology, mixed methods, intervention science, implementation science, and community-engaged research. Our work advances three complementary research areas: (1) designing and testing clinical and behavioral interventions that expand access to and improve the effectiveness of hearing care; (2) developing and using outcome measures that more fully capture the benefits of hearing care across heterogeneous aging populations; and (3) creating and evaluating new and existing hearing technologies through a human-centered design and usability lens, ensuring devices align with the goals and capabilities of older adults and those who support them.
