The Speech-Language Clinic and Hearthstone Health Campus Communities have teamed up to provide a support group for adults with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and their spouse/partner(s) or caregivers. Meeting discussions address relevant topics of interest such as fall prevention, safe options for exercise, interaction of foods and medications commonly prescribed for PD, and effective ways to communicate. Spouses or other family members and caregivers are welcome and encouraged to attend. Group sessions are supervised by Julia Rademacher, M.A., CCC-SLP, Clinical Associate Professor, with the assistance of graduate students in the IU Speech and Hearing Sciences program.
Biweekly group meetings are held during the Fall, Spring, and Summer university semesters. Meetings are held on the first and third Friday of every month from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the Activities Room at Hearthstone Health campus, 3043 North Lintel Drive, Bloomington, IN 47404.
