ASL Senior Lecturer, Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences
Rob Loveless began instructing American Sign Language in 1996. His career stemmed from his passion in helping hearing parents to communicate with their deaf children. It was from there that he realized his talents as an instructor. Rob continued honing his teaching expertise at the Colorado Department of Human Services in Denver as a system navigator/educator, where he presented on communication access to both government and private entities. Training in law enforcement and the Department of Corrections arenas was his specialty. He also taught at Front Range Community College's Interpreter Preparation Program where he was awarded a Master Teacher nomination in his first year as a full-time instructor. Rob values community service; he served on the Board of Directors for Rocky Mountain Deaf School and also served a term as its president. Upon relocation to Indiana he joined the ASL team at IU where he is currently teaching ASL and Deaf Culture courses. Rob holds a B.A. in Visual Arts from the Naropa Institute at Boulder, Colorado. He is currently enhancing his teaching skills with a M.A. in progress in Educational Technology at the University of Aspen.
