Lucia Corvalan, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Indiana University. She is bilingual in Spanish and English and serves as core facultyfor the Speech Therapy Education, Practicum, and Services (STEPS) program.
Dr. Corvalan’s clinical experience includes assessing and treating infants and young children with pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders, such as oral-phase dysphagia, food selectivity, texture progression delays, and sensory-motor feeding challenges, as well as early speech and language delays. Her clinical interests include caregiver coaching and education, language facilitation within mealtime routines, and group therapy services for early intervention and feeding.
At IU, she provides clinical supervision for pediatric feeding/swallowing, early intervention (ages 0–3), and the preschool language program (ages 3-5), emphasizing family-centered, functional, and evidence-based care. Her broader professional interests include clinical education and mentorship, interprofessional practice, and development of early childhood outreach initiatives that bridge the gap between clinical services and community access.
