Lisa Goerner is a clinical associate professor in the Indiana University Department of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences. Dr. Goerner earned her B.A. in 1980 and M.A.T. in 1982, both at Indiana University. Following graduation, Dr. Goerner worked at several otolaryngology offices in Milwaukee. Her experience at a neurotology office there instilled a strong interest in diagnostic audiology. In 1995, she returned to Indiana and was employed at an ENT office in Columbus where she began supervising IU students during off-site rotations.

In 2005, Dr. Goerner joined the Indiana University Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences as a clinical supervisor. In 2009, she completed her Au.D. through Salus University while working full-time at IU. She developed and has taught the business course for audiologists and has taught the lab portion of our vestibular course. Since 2009, Dr. Goerner has taken 2nd year Au.D. students to Red Bird Mission in the Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky to provide audiology and hearing aid services to this underserved region. She is the faculty mentor for our Student Academy of Audiology chapter. Additionally, she organizes student participation in hearing screenings for local health fairs, Head Start and area schools. Dr. Goerner has a special interest in amplification and enjoys working with all ages. She is a passionate IU fan, having season tickets for football and both men’s and women’s basketball. Current and former students have an open invitation to attend her tailgate parties during football season.
