About Carolyn Garner

Carolyn Garner is a clinical associate professor in the Indiana University Department of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences. Professor Garner earned her B.A. (1979) and M.A. (1987) from the University of Akron. Professor Garner joined the Indiana University Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences in 1988. She has served as a clinical supervisor as well as instructor for the beginning Audiology Clinical Practicum and the Laboratory in Amplification courses. Professor Garner also serves as the externship coordinator for the Au.D. Program and currently serves on the ASHA Au.D. Education Task Force Working Group: Standardization of Externship.

In addition, she is the Healthy Hearing clinical director for Special Olympics Indiana, a position she has held since 2004. In this capacity, she was invited to participate at Summer World Games in Shanghai, China in 2007. Recently, she became a member of the Medical Advisory Team for Special Olympics Indiana. Professor Garner enjoys working with patients across the lifespan with a particular fondness and expertise for pediatrics and the intellectually disabled population. She is proud of her 30-year contribution to the development and expansion of the I.U. Hearing Clinic and the training program for future audiologists. Outside of the Clinic, she enjoys travel, gardening, birding and photography.
