Nathan E. Amos, Ph.D., CCC-A, is a clinical associate professor in the Indiana University Department of Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences (SPHS). He received his B.A. from Wheaton College (1989), M.S. from Wayne State University (1994), and Ph.D. from Indiana University (2001). His early clinical work and training occurred in multiple hospitals and private practices in the Metropolitan Detroit area, including facilities with the Henry Ford Health System. He provides clinical services in the IU Hearing Clinic, and supervises graduate audiology students. He is particularly interested in the development and provision of amplification technologies, and has worn hearing aids for many years. He also has special interest in diagnostic testing of auditory system dysfunction, and the application of relevant translational research. He loves all things pertinent to audiology and hearing, and teaches a range of graduate-level courses in the areas of auditory disorders, amplification, balance function testing, auditory evoked potentials, and instrumentation and calibration. He has facilitated a hearing support group for adults, served on committees at state and national levels, is a site visitor for the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA), and an IU Trustees Teaching Award recipient. Outside of work, he enjoys music, art, golf, basketball, and spending time with family.
